There could be no better definition to describe a singular manifestation that this year reached its 35th edition. Morcone is a town clinging to a mountain that preserves all the characteristics to be a crib. Anyone passing through the Tammaro valley could immediately associate this ancient village with a characteristic Neapolitan nativity. The peculiarity of the crib of Morcone, and that in some aspects makes it unique, is the fact of being able to divide it in two acts. In fact, it begins with a visit to the recreated areas of the historic center where the old crafts are represented. During the tour, you could climb stairs, cross alleys and small squares, meet artisans, housewives, washerwomen, artists, fishermen in the stream, merchants and a fully functioning water mill. At the end, following this path, you could find yourself outside Porta San Marco where in an unreal scenario, crossed by the stream and dominated by “La Prece” you could wait for (18.00 and 20.00) to the scenes of the Nativity. This second part, starts with the Announcement to Mary and ends with the birth of Jesus and the arrival of the shepherds illuminated by the hundreds of torches and the blinding glow of Le ‘ndocce di Agnone. Finally, the comet star will guide the Magi up to the cave. Reopen your eyes the charm is over … Jesus was born …
For logistical and security reasons, since we can not guarantee everyone a visit to the environment, we have reserved this possibility only for those who book on time. All the others can access the second part of the representation, that is, the scenes of the Nativity from another entrance and in a totally free way.
